Three brothers. Two charities. Four thousand miles.
Bobby, Dennis and Raleigh Jenkins, the owners of ABC Home & Commercial Services, will be cycling across the country this summer to raise money for A Child’s Hope and the Moss Pieratt Foundation.
ABC Owners Bike Across Country for Charity
The ride will start in Seattle on May 23, 2017 and end in New York City. The Jenkins brothers are biking to support two organizations that are near and dear to their hearts. You can learn more about the ride, donate and subscribe to email updates on the Brothers Bike website.
This is not the first time the ABC owners have cycled for charity. In 2008, the Jenkins brothers biked from Austin to Canada to fundraise for Caritas of Austin. Afer that trip, they set their sights on a cross-country charity ride. “My brothers and I are willing to put in the sweat equity to get us from Seattle to New York,” explained Raleigh Jenkins. “My prayer—and hope—is that we raise funds and awareness for two great causes along the way.”
The Brothers
Robert and Sandra Jenkins opened the first ABC Home & Commercial Services branch in 1965 in San Antonio. The Jenkins boys—oldest brother Bobby, middle son Raleigh and youngest child Dennis—grew up helping out with the family business at an early age.
The business grew, and the Jenkins boys eventually took over their branches. Thanks to the hard work of Bobby, Raleigh and Dennis, thousands of dedicated employees, and generations of loyal customers, ABC now serves all the major metropolitan areas within Texas, including Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Bryan-College Station, Corpus Christi, Houston, and San Antonio, as well as having operations in central Florida.
As the largest independently-owned and operated pest control company in Texas, ABC also offers a variety of other home and commercial services. Service offerings vary by metropolitan area but include landscaping design and installation; lawn care; pool cleaning, repair, and remodeling; plumbing; holiday and event light installation; appliance repair; electrical services; and handyman services.
A Child’s Hope
In 2010, Raleigh Jenkins served as the President of the National Pest Management Association. The same year, the tiny island nation of Haiti was devastated by the impact of a massive earthquake. Over 200,000 Haitians lost their lives, 1.5 million people were displaced, and 400,000 children were abandoned.
The National Pest Management Association sent a delegation to Haiti to help residents recover. Raleigh made several trips with pest management professionals, and these visits made quite an impact. Raleigh and a few colleagues formed an organization to create a safe, loving, and supportive Christian home for lost Haitian children. The organization, A Child’s Hope, has purchased land and built several buildings, now serving as a home for the first six children. Eventually, A Child’s Hope will help nurture 300 Haitian children so that they can serve as future leaders of this country, which is still rebuilding and which was also brutal hit by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
Moss Pieratt Foundation
The Moss Pieratt Foundation celebrates the life of a very special little boy, John “Moss” Pieratt. Moss was just over a year old when his parents found him unresponsive in his crib. After Moss’s death, his family founded the Moss Pieratt Foundation to honor Moss’s life, raise funds and awareness about Sudden Unexplained Death in Children over a year old and to host a memorial concert.
The inaugural MossFest took place in 2016 at the historic Zilker Hillside Theatre in conjunction with Austin’s kickoff to spring, the Zilker Kite Festival. The family-friendly music festival featured Joe McDermott, Mr. Will, Charlie Belle, Terri Hendrix, Lloyd Maines, and many other beloved local musicians, children’s activities, and vendors.

In Austin, ABC operates the ABC Kite Festival and supports many nonprofits, including the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, and the Rotary Club. In Dallas, ABC provides pro bono pest control services to over 100 organizations in the Metroplex.
