December is one of our favorite times of year here at ABC Home & Commercial Services. For starters, Christmas is in full swing with classic Christmas songs playing on the radio, baked goods aplenty, and holiday cheer on our faces.
San Antonio Christmas Events
With all the holiday spirit in the air, we want to share some of our favorite San Antonio Christmas events. So grab your Santa hat and a handful of candy canes, because these are the 2016 San Antonio holiday events you won’t want to miss.
See The Lights
San Antonio has a number of Christmas light parks and celebrations to choose from. Don’t worry if you haven’t to these displays yet. Many events carry on into the New Year as well.
Santa’s Ranch
This Christmas light park is located in New Braunfels, Texas, about 15 minutes north of San Antonio. Santa’s Ranch, a one-mile drive-thru park, has over 1 million lights and 100 displays & animations. Get a single pass for a day trip or a season pass to enjoy the lights all month long. The kids will love this one!

Zoo Lights
See the zoo in a different light this holiday season and visit the nighttime holiday tradition at this year’s celebration, Merry & Bright and Wild at Night! Stroll to different animal exhibits under twinkling lights and take a moment to say hi to Santa. This year the event also features an ice-skating rink and camel rides.
November 18, 2016—January 1, 2017. Opens nightly at 6 pm.
Light The Way
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the University of the Incarnate Word’s Annual Light the Way Festival. Though the event officially kicked off on November 19th, the university will be beautifully lit and open for self-guided campus tours through January 6th. The event is free to the public.
November 19, 2016—January 6, 2017. Open daily.
Holiday Magic Festival of Lights
The Holiday Magic Festival of Lights is San Antonio’s first Chinese lantern festival. This cultural experience includes lanterns, entertainment, and traditional holiday food and drink. The event will take place through the New Year at Retama Park Race Track.
December 1, 2016—January 8, 2017. Open daily 5-11pm.
Visit A Theme Park
San Antonio theme parks have several special events to celebrate the holiday season. Take the entire family for a fun-filled outing at some of our favorite parks.
Six Flags Holiday in the Park
Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ Holiday In The Park has quite the lineup this season: over a million lights, live shows, and two new “immersive holiday light and music experiences, Illuminations and North Pole Reflections.” Plan ahead and check the park’s holiday schedule, though. Holiday In The Park is only open on certain days during the holiday season.
November 19, 2016—January 2, 2017.
A Wonderland Christmas
Morgan’s Wonderland, a theme park which is 100% accessible to children and adults with special needs, is hosting special holiday events as part of the Wonderland Christmas 2016 event. From December 16th until the 23rd, visitors can enjoy an interactive puppet show, a music variety show, and a dance show. In addition, Christmas lights, decorations, a petting zoo, visits with Santa, skating on a simulated ice rink, and strolling entertainers will put everyone in the holiday spirit.
December 16—23, 2016. Special activities take place from 5-9 pm. Visitors with special needs receive free admission.
Enjoy Retro Fun at Kiddie Park
Visitors of all ages will enjoy a trip down memory lane as kids have fun at the Kiddie Park’s carousel, Ferris wheel, and other throwback amusement park favorites. It’s not too late for a photo with Santa, who will be at the park from December 17th until the 22nd from 11 am until 6 pm.
December 16—23, 2016.
Attend A Show
The holidays offer the perfect time to do something special like enjoying a play or performance. Here are a few shows we are looking forward to seeing.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
It isn’t Christmas without a Charlie Brown Special. Visit the Majestic Theatre this holiday season and see the television classic come to life on stage. Make it a date-night and relive your childhood, or bring the whole family along and continue the holiday tradition. The Charlie Brown gang will have you smiling in no time.
December 16-23. Tickets available online.
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
“…and all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” While we all know and love this classic Christmas tale, Ludwig’s show puts an exciting twist you’ll be eager to experience. Catch the show at the Magik Theatre before the end of the month.
November 18—December 30, 2016. Tickets available online.
