Say Goodbye to Dry Hair With Water Softeners

Want your hair, skin and everything else to shine like it should?

Do you know the differences between hard water and soft water? At some point in your life, you’ve probably taken a shower that just didn’t make you feel very clean. It’s possible that the soap didn’t lather properly. Maybe your hair felt dry and frizzy as soon as you shook out the excess water. Whatever the effects of this unsettling experience, it’s likely that it was due to hard water. Many homes in the San Antonio area have hard water, but there’s a relatively easy fix that can preserve your sanity.

What Is Hard Water?

According to chemistry experts, hard water is any type of water that contains dissolved minerals. Just like there’s a pH scale to determine the concentration of oxygen and hydrogen ions in water, there’s a gradient scale that measures the “hardness” of water. Although municipal water is rarely as mineral-rich as water that occurs in nature, even small quantities of dissolved minerals can cause problems for users.

Why Is It Bad?

While hard water probably won’t kill you, it can make washing and other tasks much more difficult. Some of the common side effects of hard water include:

• Soap that won’t later
• More detergent is required to clean dishes
• Residue remains on “clean” dishes
• Damaged or clogged appliances due to mineral buildup in pipes
• Corroded or clogged pipes
• Poor water heating
• Dry, frizzy hair that doesn’t respond well to washing

Water Softeners: A Commonsense Solution

By definition, “soft” water lacks the dissolved minerals found in hard water. Soft water isn’t necessarily pure: It may contain sodium ions as a result of the softening process. However, it’s far more conducive to washing than hard water. The other benefits of soft water include cleaner dishes with less detergent used, less clogging in pipes and appliances, better water heating and healthier hair. Overall, your investment in a water softener is likely to pay off in the form of a longer-lived plumbing system and a more sparing use of cleaning products.

That is awesome that a water softener can help your hair be less dry. I always have problems with frizzy hair. I also like that it can help you use less dish and laundry soap! Maybe I will have to look into getting one of these devices installed in my home.
